Most of this doesn’t happen in structured settings, it happens where the work actually lives, on a flightline at an airshow with someone seeing an aircraft up close for the first time, in a school where a team is trying to get something working that clearly isn’t, in side conversations that turn into introductions, resumes getting reviewed, connections being made that didn’t exist ten minutes earlier.
There’s no spotlight on any of it, no formal program running in the background, just access, timing, and staying present long enough to make sure the moment actually turns into something useful.
Most of this won’t show up on a calendar or a report, it shows up later, in the call you get, the message that someone got the job, the note that they stayed with something they almost walked away from.
That’s how you know it mattered.
The goal was never to frame it as giving back, it was to make sure the door stays open a little wider than it was before, and that someone else can walk through it without having to figure everything out the hard way.
Outreach initiatives
SUPER JET BRUNETTE
Super Jet Brunette started simple, just get people closer to the industry, not the polished version people see online, the real version where you can stand next to the aircraft, talk to the people doing the work, and ask questions that don’t have scripted answers.
Over time it grew because the need was real, students, veterans, people changing direction, all trying to figure out where they fit and how to move forward, and that meant building relationships across schools, industry, and events, not for visibility but to create more entry points.
The work looks straightforward from the outside, connect people, open doors, make introductions, but the part that matters is staying involved long enough to see what actually happens next, because that’s where most things fall apart if nobody is paying attention.
FIRST ROBOTICS / STEM
Robotics is where everything shows up in real time, a group of students standing over something that isn’t working, pressure building, time running out, nobody quite sure how to fix it.
Then something shifts, someone figures it out, the team locks in, and you can see the confidence change almost immediately, not just in the machine working but in how they see themselves.
That moment carries further than the competition ever will, because it resets what they think they’re capable of, and that changes decisions later, classes, careers, direction.
